Events like the California Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association sanctioned Penn Valley Rodeo now in its 58th year, and the Rough & Ready Secession days celebrating when in 1850, the town of Rough and Ready voted to secede from the Union and form the Great Republic of Rough and Ready.
